Every so often amongst the favorites and 5 stars, I've found more recently to be receiving harsh ratings in bulk (5+ at a time).

I'm a bit disappointed to see the system put in place here be used in such a way.

Don't get me wrong, if I was uploading photos of my dogs or some such nonsense, I would understand however, I was given the impression a standard was in-place for uploading works to the site.

As fun as it may be occasionally seeing your profile hit the top from time to time, the same system of notoriety resultant in said fun is also rather exploitable between members.

Can some of these exploits be corrected?
for mass low ratings, I propose the submitter be able to see only raters of 1 star on their works, if they see a common pattern they could report the culprits or something, heck i dont know. Im to the point now where if this continues on I'll just start deleting images, and only the community loses out (since I can enjoy my own art without sharing it)

If any of you guys have had the same thing, post about it here.
If any of you guys are guilty of this, go step on a lego!

Peace, im out!

Can you provide a link to an image (or images) that this has happened to? I'll take a look at it and see if there's any way we could prevent something like this from happening. Thanks!

Hey,
The reputation feature doesnt specify which submissions are rated. :/
the maximum information it provides is:

Dec 01, 2013
+147.6: Received 1,476 image downloads
+6: Received 6 one-star ratings
-48: You have reached the daily maximum for image downloads (100)
50,177

I can generally tell by the average rating and quality of submission when something doesnt look right.
the only image i beleive has a skewed rating is this - http://www.wallpaperfusion.com/Image/abstract/9731/

I've looked into this issue, and the image you linked to doesn't seem suspicious. I've also looked into a number of users who have given many 1-star ratings, and everyone I have looked at has also given many 4-5 star ratings too, so it doesn't seem like a wide-spread issue. Some people just don't like certain types of images, and unfortunately they rate them as 1-star. That is their opinion and they're welcome to do it. Fortunately we have many people who are voting up your images too (myself included, I love abstract images as wallpaper) so your ratings tend to average out to 4+ star ratings. We're going to be opening up the image rating to all DisplayFusion users soon too (from inside the app), this should encourage many tens of thouands of people to start rating images too, which should bring up your rep and image ratings. :)

Hi, that is reassuring :)
receiving only ratings from the full website gives a rather rigid perspective. I do see my images average out well, it just threw me to see a few times big amounts of low ratings in such a way.

When the system is open to many platforms, this should become less apparent (I hope) ^_^

So it's been ages since i began this thread, I just wanted to post an update about this.

from after starting the thread, I haven't had this occur or seem to occur at all. I'm not sure if the rating systems being re-balanced or something (maybe mobile app ratings?), but all i get is frequent 5 stars, in both reputation stats and in the majority of submission overall star ratings.

Must say I'm quite pleased with the account activity :D

We've changed a number of things on the site, and we have users coming in from the mobile apps more frequently now too. I'm sure these things together have helped balance things out. :)
